Confidentiality and Privacy Policy

Everything shared in session between a client and counselor and all materials relevant to those sessions is very private and protected by law and will not be shared with anyone without the prior written permission of the client. However there are a few exceptions to that rule:

 If a client threatens to harm themselves, every effort will be made by the therapist to ensure their safety, however, if the client is unable or unwilling to keep themselves safe, the therapist is required by law to seek outside assistance without their permission to maintain their safety.

 Suspected child abuse, or dependent adult/elder abuse. The therapist is required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately

 Client threatens to cause serious injury or death to another person(s). The therapist is required to contact the police immediately and notify the person(s) targeted of the potential threat.
